What is Dermalift?
Dermalift is a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedure that removes a small amount of skin, approximately 10mm, to gently lift and tighten areas affected by early sagging. It is often described as a more subtle, less invasive alternative to a traditional facelift.
The procedure can be applied to three main areas: the forehead (to elevate the brows and smooth the upper face), the mid and lower face (to soften nasolabial folds and restore definition to the jawline), and the neck region, where it is often combined with a small amount of fat removal beneath the chin for a more refined result.
Incisions are small and strategically placed, predominantly along the hairline, so that scarring is well camouflaged and heals discreetly. The procedure is performed entirely under local anaesthesia, without the need for a hospital stay or general anaesthesia.

Recovery & Aftercare
What to Expect
Immediately After
Dermalift is performed in a clinic setting and requires no hospital admission. Most patients leave the clinic within a couple of hours and can return to their normal routine the same day or the following morning.
First Two Weeks
Minor swelling or tenderness around the incision sites is common and usually settles quickly. The small incisions are concealed within the hairline and require only standard wound care as directed by your surgeon.
Long-Term
Results develop gradually as healing progresses. The improvement typically lasts one to two years, after which the procedure can be repeated. Results vary depending on skin quality, age, sun exposure, and lifestyle.
For UK Patients
Planning Dermalift in Lisbon
Because Dermalift involves only local anaesthesia and requires no hospital stay, it is one of the most straightforward procedures for UK patients to plan. There is no need for an extended recovery period in Lisbon, many patients are able to travel home within a day or two of the procedure.
Your consultation will establish which areas of the face and neck are most appropriate to treat, and whether Dermalift is the right approach for your goals at this stage. It may be combined with blepharoplasty or other complementary treatments where clinically appropriate.
Pre-operative assessment is conducted in advance of your visit, and post-operative follow-up is provided by our Oxford nursing team, ensuring continuity of care after you return to the UK.

- Temporary numbness or altered sensation around treated areas
- Asymmetry of results: minor differences between sides may occur
- Infection: uncommon and manageable with appropriate care
- Results are not permanent: the procedure may be repeated after 1–2 years
- Not suitable for significant or advanced facial sagging: a traditional facelift may be more appropriate in those cases
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Dermalift different from a traditional facelift?
A traditional facelift involves more extensive surgery, general anaesthesia, a hospital stay, and a longer recovery. Dermalift removes a smaller amount of skin under local anaesthesia in a clinic setting, with minimal downtime. It suits patients with early sagging who want a subtle improvement without committing to a full surgical lift.
How long do results last?
Results typically last between one and two years. Individual outcomes vary depending on skin quality, age at time of treatment, and lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and smoking. The procedure can be safely repeated.
Is there any downtime after Dermalift?
Most patients return to their normal daily activities the same day or the day following the procedure. There is no requirement for a hospital stay or extended rest period. Minor tenderness around the incision sites is common in the first few days.
Can Dermalift be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Dermalift is frequently combined with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and can complement other minimally invasive treatments. Your surgeon will advise on the most appropriate combination for your goals at consultation.
Will the scars be visible?
Incisions are small and placed within the hairline or in discreet natural creases wherever possible. Scars are typically well camouflaged and become difficult to detect as healing progresses over the weeks following treatment.
